Meet the judges
Kaylene Mortensen
Kaylene has over 15 years of experience in the dance industry. She grew up training at her local dance studio for 10 years. After high school Kaylene continued dancing at Morningside College and Buena Vista University. She is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, MuvMethod and NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety. Her return to Spencer led her to coach the high school dance team for 5 years guiding them to numerous division one ratings and top 5 finishes at state. Currently, she is the assistant studio director at Studio Y and co-directs their competition team.
Robyn Murphy
Robyn Murphy began dancing at the age of 6 in her hometown of Worthington MN and is trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pom, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary and Acrobatics. She began as a teachers assistant at the age of 11. She then spent her high school years training at two dance studios, teaching multiple classes per week, along with becoming captain of her high school competitive dance team. After high school, she continued training in all styles of dance as she taught at Main Stage Ballet for 7 years, coached competitive dance at Champion Legacy for 4 years and coached the Compeititive High School Dance Team at Lincoln High School for 4 years. In 2009, Robyn moved to Platte SD where she began coaching the Platte-Geddes high school competitive dance team along with opening a dance studio in Platte. When she moved back to Worthington, she spent one year coaching gymnastics for the youth competitive gymnastics team and the Worthington High School gymnastics team. In 2012, she opened Shining Fame Performance Dance Studio in Worthington and it has been in operation for 12 years. Her competitive dancers have won numerous awards including grand champion awards at multiple competitions. Robyn has had 13 Senior team routines qualify for The Dance Worlds and a finals qualifying routine in 2024. She is a 4 year member as a professional dancer in the LiRa Dance Theatre Company, where she is a core company dancer and has had several leading roles. She holds college degrees in; Business Administration, Human Resources and Management. Robyn is the new owner and director of Premiere Dance Complex in Yankton SD. She is also the head coach of the Yankton High School competitive dance team.

Styles of dance: Jazz, Lyrical, contemporary, Ballet, Pom, Kick, Hip Hop, Military, Novelty, Prop, production, & Co-ed
There is no limit to number of acrobatic/tumbling skills in a routine.
Time limit for all entries is 3:00.
Age division is determined by the age on date of competition, OCtober 19, 2024.
Ages Divisions: Mini (5-7), Junior (8-10), teen (11-13), & Senior (14 & up or high school)
Types of Entries are solo, duet/trio, and groups. STudio & School soloists will compete against each other. Studio & school groups will not compete against each other.
Awards will be given to the top 3 in each category if there are 5 or more entries. IF there are less than five entries within a category, only first place will be given.
Overall awards will be given to the top 5 in each age division & type of entry if there are more than 10 entries. IF there are less than 10 entries, top three will be awarded.
grand champion will be awarded in each age division for all entries.
